Shooting Stars

Right now I’m thinking about being in fifth grade and living on Amelia Island. One of my favorite memories is of watching all of the rivalry weekend football games at our house with a bunch of family friends. My stepmom Susie’s friend told me and my brothers about the meteor shower that was supposed to be happening that night and from the second on, we were outside checking the skies every few minutes. Our house was surrounded by trees so we couldn’t actually see much of the sky and kept walking down the street to try and get a better view. Finally, everyone loaded up into cars and we went to the beach. It was cold and windy and super late. I remember feeling like a rebel because we were up so late and still so young. Finally, laying there on the beach all wrapped up in blankets, it started. It was one of the first times I can remember having my breath taken away.

The Leonid Meteor Shower was beautiful and I remember every single second of it. Thinking about it makes me miss you, Dad. Not a day goes by where I don’t need you or wish I could call you up. I miss you more right this second then I did 503 days ago. I can’t wait for the day I get to see you again.

My Summer Project

This summer when we cleaned out an old family shed on my great grandmother/grandma’s property I found an old table. I found out that its something that my great great grandfather built. Needless to say, I made my brother climb into the shed with my uncle and get it out for me. I spent this summer taking it apart to scrub it, sand it, and paint it, all in an attempt to put it back together and make it look new. My little sister helped me to pick out the color. What’s really cool is that as I was sanding down the table, the original color about 3 layers down was almost the exact same color I painted it. I love my family so this was the perfect addition to my new room in Tallahassee :)

Oh Stumble Upon, the things you show me sometimes are far too ironic.
